School Policy

Hours, fees, attendance, uniform, health, safety and discipline. Everything a Cosmopolitan family needs to know, in one place.

Preamble

Cosmopolitan Bilingual Academy is a secular learning environment committed to providing students with the knowledge and skills they need for contemporary challenges. Families are asked to respect the school’s secular nature, and the institution protects everyone’s freedom of conscience.

These policies exist to foster mutual respect, cooperation and student safety, and to help develop responsible citizens.

Admission

Enrolment requires transparency and cooperation between families and the school.

The registration of your child must be renewed at the end of every school year.

Students commit to full academic years, from September through June.

Parents must ensure punctual arrival and pick-up. Children remaining after closing time automatically enter canteen or after-school care at the family’s expense.

Late pick-up. If a child is picked up late twice within one week, five weekdays, a meeting will be held with the parents. Repeated late pick-ups result in mandatory home days and may require alternative childcare arrangements.

Attendance, punctuality and reports

Regular attendance directly affects academic progress. Any absence must be justified, either in advance or by notification on the morning. Parents and teachers work together to help students catch up afterwards.

Progress reports are issued five times a year and require a parent’s signature on return.

School uniform

Uniform is mandatory as a symbol of school identity. Shorts are required underneath dresses and skirts. Flip-flops, high heels and roller skates are prohibited.

The school uses student photographs from school activities for class albums, presentations, articles and website publication.

Health and emergency care

Prohibited items include personal toys, chewing gum, sweets, dangerous objects such as pocket knives and cutters, medicines, jewellery and valuables such as cameras, camcorders and telephones. Confiscated items are returned to parents. Smoking and animals are prohibited on school grounds.

Borrowed library books must be returned on time and in good condition. Lost or damaged materials are invoiced; unreturned books lead to suspension of borrowing privileges.

Discipline and sanctions

Responsibility for property damage falls on parents or guardians. Behavioural issues trigger a graduated response:

  1. Remedial measures within the classroom.
  2. A verbal warning.
  3. A parent and school meeting, with sanctions agreed.
  4. Temporary or permanent exclusion, depending on severity.
